A Statement for Spring

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a great festive holiday and New Year.

Statement jewellery is on my fashion love list and is a huge trend for Spring Summer this year, if like me, you love jewellery too you might be interested in checking out the Unexpected Pleasures Exhibition being held at the Design Museum (click here for further details and address).  The exhibition is being held until 3rd March and is about the art and design of contemporary jewellery, it showcases work form jewellery designer Wendy Ramshaw who is known for using geometric jewels, precious stones in metal, glass and ceramic and Dorothea Pruhl who is known for her sculptural pieces using wood, gold, silver, aluminium, titanium and stainless steel.

Here are some pictures of their amazing jewellery:

'Foxes' by Dorothea Pruhl

Statement jewellery was sent down the runway by many designers for Sping Summer 13, think oversized jewels, spike details, chunky chains and neon colours.

My most favourite pieces were from Mawi’s collection, because I think the jewellery looks feminine with a contemporary edge.  The collection consists of encrusted clutches, bright colours, crystal and gem set earrings and rings.

Here are some pictures of statement pieces from Mawis’s Spring Summer 13 Collection:

Drop Crystals, Perspex Spikes Glitter Clutch
Triple Gemstone Neon Flower Necklace
Gemstone Neon Flower Ring

Gorgeous hey!, I have found some pieces that you can wear to dress up any outfit that are on trend and purse proof.

The first piece is a statement necklace which is from Carole Tanebaum, her collection is amazing Ashley Roberts wore one of her necklaces on the most recent Dancing on Ice here is a quick peek if you haven't already seen it...

Carole Tanebaum Necklace

The next piece is a statement necklace from Stella and Dot which I think will look great over a day dress or it can dress up jeans and a t-shirt and add some colour.

This ring is gorgeous and will look great with an all white outfit

Will you be wearing statement pieces this Spring?

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted online in a while i've been super busy since graduating from The London College of Style.

I have given my blog a new make over and renamed it Harriet Flynn Style I hope you like the changes.

So where to start, I've been working with commercial clients ASOS, Crew Clothing and House of Fraser as well as working with Freelance Stylists.  I was apart of Tabitha London Ad Campaign shot in Iris Studios in London.

Tabitha Somerset-Webb launched Project D with Danni Minouge and now has a brand new collection of leather bags, clutches and accessories, check them out here www.tabithalondon.com.

Last week I got to meet the girl band The Saturdays on a shoot for We Love Pop Magazine, it was a fun shoot and included SS13 wear, lots of fab colours.  I'll upload images to share with you once printed.

Power to the Flower......

Hi Everyone!

Hope your having a fab week so far!

So the catwalks have been blossoming with the girly pattern of the season…florals.

So I hear you asking how do I wear this trend?

For those curvy hourglass women I found this Floral Dress, £34.00 from TFNC which will look great on your body shape.  The scoop neck will flatter your bust and the skinny belt will highlight your waist and bring out those curves.

Team this dress with an over sized clutch and sandals for the daytime, or add  toe peeped high heels for instant glamour in the evening

If you’re an apple shape then your in proportion with fabulous legs and bust but tend to carry weight around your mid section. I found this Maxi Dress, £75, Lipsy will work wonders on your shape.  The V neck on this dress will highlight your bust and draw the eye upwards to the top half of your body and the dress will skim over your mid section and look flattering.

Add a chunky wedge to this dress for that summer garden party or drinks

If you’re a fairly up and down rectangle with killer legs then these Tropical Floral Shorts, £35.00, Topshop will be great for you to work the trend in.  Team these up with a top that has a high neckline to shorten your torso slightly and add a skinny belt to emphasise your waist and create curves.
Add a bow or peter pan collar to a top to give these shorts a cute look

For those bottom heavy pears I found these Wide leg Trousers, £80.55, Free People.  These trousers are wide leg which will balance out the bottom half of your body with the top half.  Pick out a bold colour from the flower print and team these with a top that colour this will highlight the top half of your body and draw the eye away from the hips.  Choose a style top with a v neck or scoop neck.

Make a statement with a bold necklace or add a lace shawl for a bohemian look

I hope you like this weeks finds and tips.  If you have any questions on styling or would like any advice on how to wear items in your wardrobe please post a comment and I’d be happy to answer them.

Let me know what you think of florals, will you be wearing them this Spring?

Game On....

Hey Everyone!

I hope your enjoying the glorious sunshine.

This week i wanted to share my images from an Editorial Fashion Shoot Assignment I was set.

The brief was to take inspiration from sports fabrics and textile and produce a high end elegant look not a sportswear story.

Here's my look.....

What do you think?

The sports luxe trend is everywhere, Victoria Beckham's Spring/Summer 12 collection has a sporty edge and Alexandra Wang brought scuba style dresses to the runway in his collection.  All inspired by the Olympics due to be held in London soon.

If you like the sporty look, you may like some of the sporty pieces I have tracked down.

Short Metallic Pleat Skirt, Topshop, £28.00, Bracker Shoe, Aldo, £75.00, Pink Colour Block Bowler Bag, River Island, £40.00.

When your out and about shopping for this trend, look out for sporty details like mesh, exposed zips, panels, essence of neon colour and high shine metallics.

So race down to the shops and get spending.

"Mothers Day..
A time for warm thoughts
And fond memories,
For expressing
The feelings and words
That often go unspoken,
For letting
Those special people
In our lives know
That they are loved
And appreciated-
Always. "
